Become a Support Volunteer
If you feel able to provide compassionate emotional and practical support to individuals within our service, and learn about horticulture at the same time, we have Support Volunteer roles available.
Our Support Volunteers come on one, regular day a week to join our expert staff and people we support in the day’s activities. Support Volunteers either support individuals or the group as a whole, to carry out tasks and activities.

If you’d like to get involved with Growing Well, learn all about horticulture from our professional team, meet new people, and enjoy a healthy, active day working outside in a beautiful setting, then why not try a Community Volunteering day at one of our sites.
These non-therapeutic days are currently on Fridays each week and can be attended weekly or just as a drop-in opportunity.
Volunteering outdoors is widely recognised as being great for wellbeing, and a preventative measure against the development of mental ill health. If you have a developing mental health problem you are trying to address by volunteering with us, please chat to our team about whether Community Volunteering is best, or if our core programme is more appropriate for your individual needs.

What activities will I be doing if I volunteer at Growing Well?
Horticulture
You will take part in group activities, which involve growing and tending vegetables in polytunnels, glasshouses, and out in the field. The work can be strenuous, but it’s always enjoyable and rewarding.
You’ll help with the weekly picking and packing of produce for our Crop Share veg boxes. Each week during the growing season we provide 100+ veg boxes for local customers.
Maintenance
Our sites include polytunnels, glasshouses, sheds and work areas, along with the tools required to prepare the ground and tend our crops. You’ll help with maintenance and occasional repairs at a site.
