Time for a quick re-cap on some of the fundraising activities that have been going on over recent weeks, starting with our 20th Anniversary walk from Growing Well at Tebay Services to our site at Low Sizergh farm
If the 20-mile route wasn’t enough of a challenge then the awful weather certainly added to the sense of achievement for those taking part, with torrential rain and high winds for most of the day.
Growing Well’s chief executive, Mary Smith: “It’s hard to put into words how special today has been, and how much it means to how many.”
“What a privilege it has been to celebrate with founders, former and current staff and trustees, funders, charity partners, support volunteers, community volunteers, fellow charities, brilliant beneficiaries and people from our local communities who “just” care. All of whom put so much into making this charity so great.”
20 miles, £20,000 raised and a magical day that will stay in our memories for at least the next 20 years!

Cake and Bake Sales have been popular fundraisers of late and the team at legal firm Hill Dickinson, along with the Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust, held one at their offices in Preston and raised £131 for Growing Well.
Anord Mardix in Kendal also held a bake sale and raffle for us, raising £361. They also purchased a Crop Share subscription as a raffle prize, and this was won by Jonathan.
Susan Marston dropped in the Growing Well site at Low Sizergh with a donation of £375 . Her and her friend Jane Willis held a joint 155th Birthday Party – Susan was 75 and her friend Jane was 80.
They are both keen singers who sing with the Growing Singing group in Kendal and are also both very keen gardeners. When they held their birthday party they booked a singing coach for the day and invited their friends to contribute food via a Jacob’s join. And instead of birthday presents, asked their guests to make a donation to Growing Well!
